Copyleft

Copyleft names the strategy to license a work under terms which require that all modifications and redistributions have to be as free as the original work. (Free is here meant in the sense of freedom.) Likewise these license terms are called copyleft. Licenses which contain these terms are called copyleft licenses.
The most known copyleft license for FOSS is the GNU General Public License (GPL).
